IMMUNITY & ESSENTIAL OILS & OTHER RANDOM IMMUNITY BOOSTING TIPS
Since I got into this business 7 months ago, my house smells like an essential oil bomb went off in it. I am not complaining, it’s definitely a perk. The biggest benefit I have noticed is the amount of times my family has been sick in the past 7 months has dwindled significantly. And there has been some NASTY stuff going around the schools and with our kid’s friends. No one got the stomach flu either. Trust me, I can appreciate a good knock down stomach flu to drop a few pounds but I am thrilled no one here got hit. KNOCK ON WOOD.
Prior to having kids, I BARELY got sick. I was always traveling up in an airplane weekly. I noticed my immunity would get slightly weaker when I was marathon training or typically right around my monthly visitor. Once I had twins (3.5 years ago) and was done breastfeeding – I was getting sick ALL the flipping time. Every single stomach flu or cold that was going around find it’s way to ME. It drove me INSANE! I lose all my grace when I am sick. I had my bloodwork done a couple times and everything was normal (my Vitamin D was in the acceptable range but on the low side so I up my dosage especially in the winter).
I was in the Health Food Store and buying every natural remedy for improving overall immunity as they reccomended. My whole family is on probiotics and Vitamin D. I also take Orgeano Oil, Olive leaf, Osho Root or syrup, and Vitamin C (Elderberry) in addition to a Multi Vitamin. These concoctions helped but no where near as much as the essential oil bomb in my house.
I’m so pleased that I have rarely been sick since Mind Over Lather came into my life. I live with essential oil every where, the most commonly used ones in my business are Lavender, Peppermint, Eucalyptus, and Tea Tree. These are the oils used in our top selling yoga mat spray. I probably don’t need to but I still diffuse in multiple rooms (usually a blend of Thieves or On Guard with whatever else is handy) In addition to essential oils, these are some of the other immunity boosting tips or theories that I hold dear to:
Immunity Boosting Tips or Theories
1) GARLIC – Cook with lots of it and even eat it raw
2) DAIRY – Eliminate it & Eat to your blood type if possible
3) DIFFUSE OILS – On Guard or Thieves or a similar concoction or whatever you have in the house (Lavender, Mint, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree)
4) PROBIOTICS – This is ESSENTIAL. It benefits immunity, overall gut health, your skin, digestion, etc
5) VITAMIN D – You can not get too much and so many MDs agree on this – We love popping the Rodan & Fields Vitamin D weekly dosage in addition to 2-4000mg daily (I buy mine at Costco). My sister and I swear it gives us unstoppable marathon-running energy Shop here →Weekly VIt D Supplement
6) OREGANO OIL – A couple drops under the tongue. I like the brand Oregonal (Amazon or health food stores like Claudia’s in Toledo)
7) HYDRATION – Drink lots of water to flush things out and to keep your body working at it’s best
8) NETI – add a couple drops of lavender for the antiseptic properties. It’s so lovely and will flush any gross germs lingering or help with sinuses. My husband is an ENT so this is MD recommended!
9) CLEAN HANDS -Wash your hands all the time & have an all-natural hand sanitizer stashed everywhere
10) YOGA – Every kind, every day will benefit. Restorative to relax, Hot & Powerful ones to sweat it all out. Yoga is known to build immunity (Forward Folds, Legs Up the Wall & All Inversions, Twists)
11) REST – Shoot for 7-8 hours of sleep to let your body recharge.
12) WINE – In Moderation, in theory a glass of some alcohol may help kill off any bad bacteria in the gut.
Please let me know if you have any good ones! I’m pretty passionate about keeping my family naturally healthy!

Can you recommend some essential oils to get started and what type of infuser? I need to get on the bandwagon

Lou! You can buy any type of diffuser. Look on Amazon or even check Marshall’s or Homegoods. I like Thieves or OnGuard. Stephanie Volpini sells the OnGuard near you. I also love lavender, eucalyptus, tea tree, and peppermint.
